Hiccups Were Only Symptom of Man’s Heart Attack

For most of us, hiccups are a body function we deal with on a regular basis.

However, did you know that if you have non-stop hiccups for two days, it could actually be a sign of a serious medical condition?

In an extremely rare phenomenon, a 68-year old man was only warned of his heart attack by experiencing non-stop hiccups. After hiccuping for four straight days (every 4-6 seconds), he finally went to the emergency room to seek treatment.  He had no other health complaints.

Of course, the doctors gave him some medication to ease his hiccups and sent him home. However, after the man continued to hiccup for two more days, he went back to the emergency room. This time, they gave him an electrocardiogram (EKG), and to their surprise, he showed several abnormalities. He was finally diagnosed as having a small heart attack.

Doctors admitted that this particular case was extremely rare, which is why they hadn’t suspected a heart attack the first time the man sought treatment.
